Galactic Core of the Milky Way in Joshua Tree

Join filmmaker and photographer Henry Jun Wah Lee for an intimate, hands-on photography and timelapse workshop in Joshua Tree, California. We will be focused on capturing stars, the galactic core of the Milky Way, as well as gorgeous desert sunrises and sunsets.  This four day workshop, held May 30th to June 3rd, 2014, is limited to only 5 participants.

Learn from one of the premier timelapse shooters in the world as Henry shares his knowledge and wisdom through in-class training as well as hands-on practical instruction while shooting in the field.  Experience breathtaking, otherworldly landscapes of Joshua Tree as the Milky Way and countless stars sweep across the night sky. You will learn how to shoot day, day to night, and astro timelapse both on static tripods and motion control equipment. You will also learn how to process and editing your shots into professional 4K resolution timelapse video using Adobe Lightroom, After Effects and LRTimelapse. Late spring provides excellent opportunities to capture stunning compositions with the galactic core of the Milky Way. We will spend a lot of time shooting so you will have plenty of time to hone your skills and apply what you are learning.

One of my groups produced a video that went viral. It is a testament to the group’s talent and how much you can learn from the workshop.

The workshop is open to all skill levels and covers everything from the basics, to shooting motion-controlled  time lapses, to processing and editing your footage into professional quality 4K video.

What You Will Learn

Timelapse photography is both an art and a science.  You will learn all of the skills and techniques Henry uses to shooting professional quality timelapses, including workflow, planning, composition, camera gear, accessories, shooting techniques, camera settings, post processing and editing.  We will also discuss common mistakes as well as known challenges and their solutions so that you will be prepared when things don’t go as planned. And things often don’t go as planned! More importantly, you get to learn the essence of timelapse beyond equipment and numbers that you can not get from books or online forums. For five days you will be fully immersed in the craft of capturing the magic of nature through timelapse.

Due to the small size of this workshop, there is a $500 nonrefundable fee if you cancel.

Cancel on or before May 1st: $750 cancellation fee

Cancel on or before May 15th:  $1,000 cancellation fee

Cancel after May 15th: No refund
